May Days

May is a month of celebrations. The weather begins to improve, giving this sun-worshipper a reminder of why I ever stayed in Seattle. We celebrated my birthday with brunch at our favorite Spanish restaurant, Harvest Vine. As always, one of the highlights of my birthday is receiving a card from the women’s ministry at my church. Gift-wise, I got to add some great pieces to my new, fuss-free wardrobe.

Then came Mother’s Day, which in the past has been bittersweet as I celebrate my grandmas and the women who influence me, including my amazing mother-in-law, while mourning the loss of my own relationship with my mom. Everyone told me this year would be different. I did believe them, but I didn’t know exactly how. It was a whole new world this year. Nothing but joy, especially because I received one of the sweetest things ever: a card that Chris got Susanna to “sign.”

More Beauty

Daily Drop CapD has inspired me to post today. I hope to incorporate a little more beauty into my blogging habits (which I admit are waning), and the gorgeous letters available in Internet land will help me.

Speaking of beauty, I’ve been obsessing with the site Pinterest.com. The best thing about it is that I always have somewhere beautiful to go on the Internet.

I celebrated my birthday on Mother’s Day this year. I promise a couple birthday posts are forthcoming.

Happy Birthday, Seasoned With Salt!

Everyone knows how much I love birthdays. I mean, I have a whole category devoted to them here.

So, it is with great pleasure that I announce today is the first birthday of this blog!

Since I started Seasoned with Salt, I’ve written about the loss of a friend, taken and passed an extremely difficult oral exam, updated and changed the theme, name and location of this blog, ruminated on missions and addressed a common misconception, blogged from missionary school (on my phone, I might add!), become a missionary, declared my passion for youth ministry, and had a little fun.

There is much more to come. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

Presenting…

Today is Chris’s birthday! He doesn’t get as enthusiastic about birthdays as I do (I guess enthusiasm is supposed to decrease with age?), but he has a lot to look forward to this year. Chris says some 10-year-olds get more excited about their birthdays than me.

In honor of Chris’s 34th year, I present you with our 2010 prayer card, which we’ll be having printed soon. This is a “birthday card” of a different sort.
