I Honor Our Fallen Heroes

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. If there is one thing that nearly always brings me to tears, it’s photos of people greeting their loved ones coming home from war. The worst ones, for me, are mamas who have to greet their sons in a casket.

Today, I encourage you to head over to The Pioneer Woman’s photography section and see her collection of “Coming Home” photos submitted by readers.

I guarantee you’ll be sniffling by the end.

This is a sweet and passionate coming home. Couples should never be apart. I know.

Click the photo for the caption. There aren’t words enough to say thank you.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:13

Whilst today is also a 3 day weekend in Britian, it is not for this reason, remembering all troops occurs on Nov 11th and it is much more sombre.

But I looked at all the photos at pioneer woman, and I thought they were moving. Some of them felt indecent to look at with more than a glance, because they showed such raw emotion. The best ones for me were where there was a dad obviously pleased to welcome his son (soldier) back. Or where the soldier was obviously as pleased to see everyone as everyone was to see him.

    • I like the fathers welcoming sons back too. So precious!

  • These are touching photos, Rose. I haven’t looked at the Pioneer Woman photos yet, but I’m going to now.
